Prepping a room to be painted is one of the most important steps. Let Lou Manfredini, Ace’s home expert, share his tips and tricks on how to do it effectively.

How to Prep a Room for Painting

Before you touch a paint brush, it is important to protect your home and the things in it.

  1. Remove all wall decor and any window coverings.
  2. Remove any outlet covers and tape the screws to the back of them.
  3. Move your furniture to the center of the room. Cover it with a plastic drop cloth.
  4. Use a canvas drop cloth to protect your floors from common paint splatters.
